Strategy changes the next-generation Corvette has been planned by General Motors to attract more customers. Traditionally, the Corvette has always been offered with high-displacement eight-cylinder powertrains, but the C7 Corvette may also offer a small, turbocharged V8.














However, traditional V8 enthusiasts need not worry, as the story states that a full range of engines will be available, including the classic larger displacement units that have traditionally found a home in the Corvette.

Of course, the rumormill about exactly what’s in store for the C7 Corvette continues to swirl. We’ve heard everything from a mid-engine layout to a split rear window design that pays tribute to the 1963 ‘Vette. Whatever the case, GM just invested $131 million in the Bowling Green, Kentucky plant that builds the Corvette and the all-new model is expected to arrive within the next two to three years.

2012 Chevrolet Corvette and Centennial Edition will reveal in Kentucky

Chevrolet will reveal the 2012 Corvette models alongside the Chevrolet Centennial Edition at a special event this weekend at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Production begins this July.

New for the 2012MY are the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup Zero Pressure tires, which are offered for the 505HP Z06 as well as the supercharged 638HP ZR1 models. These competition-oriented tires promise to boost cornering and handling capability throughout warm, dry conditions. Combined with the Performance Traction Management (PTM) technologies, the Michelins are said to give an 8-percent gain in maximum lateral acceleration (a lot more than 1.1 g) and shorter braking distances.












The new Michelins are included inside the optional Z07 performance package for the Corvette Z06 along with a new PDE performance package on the ZR1. Another upgrade is the racing-style spoiler included in both Z07 and PDE packages. Inside, all 2012 Corvette models will get new seat and steering wheel designs. Chevrolet says the seats will feature larger bolsters for improved lateral support and optional microfiber suede inserts. Furthermore, all models receive contrasting color stitching (red, blue and yellow), and padded center console and armrests.

When it comes to equipment, there is going to be a new Bose audio system with nine speakers (compared to seven in 2011), much better tuned to the cabin’s acoustics. The 2LT trim level will feature a new Technologies Package that includes navigation, head-up display, Bose premium audio system, Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity as well as a USB port. Lastly, clients might be able to chose brake caliper colors from red, yellow, silver or gray.

The eAssist uses a lithium-ion battery and an electric motor-generator to enable regenerative braking electric assist and start-stop functionality.

The Chevrolet Malibu ECO returns a fuel consumption of 38 mpg (6.19 liters/km) on the highway and 26 mpg (9 liters/100 km) in the city, with Chevrolet boasting that it’s the most fuel-efficient midsize sedan in the company’s 100 year-long history.

The system weighs 65 pounds (29 kg) and is mated to a 2.4-liter Ecotec direct-injection petrol engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine produces 180HP but it receives up to 15 more horsepower during heavier acceleration from the eAssist system. Fuel efficiency is further increased by the eAssist in various driving scenarios, helping the Malibu ECO to achieve a driving range of 550 miles (885 km) on a full 15.8-gallon tank (60 liters).

2013 Chevrolet Malibu ECO gets features underbody aero enhancements and electronically controlled shutters in the lower grille that close at higher speeds to push more air over and around the car. The shutters are open or closed based on engine coolant temperature and speed. For instance, they open when the car is traveling up a hill, pulling a trailer, or in hot city driving, and they close at highway speeds when engine cooling is less required.

The Malibu ECO rides on 17-inch wheels shod in low-rolling-resistance tires also engineered to improve economy.

The Malibu ECO sedan’s interior comes with an ECO gauge in the cluster which responds to driving behavior, encouraging fuel-efficient driving, while an Auto Stop Indicator on the tachometer lets the driver know when the engine is in start-stop mode.

The car will go on sale in early 2012 in the U.S., with the Malibu LS, LT and LTZ models to arrive in summer 2012. Pricing will be announced at a later date.
