Sony's A77 and A65 spied in leaked image, announcement to follow?

    Sony's A77 and A65

First shown nearly a year ago, what appears to be a leaked official photo might finally mean the forever teased A77 is finally on the horizon. If you'll recall, the high-end Alpha was sporting a svelte see-through body, and the only tidbits the Japanese firm would confirm were the 2011 ship date and that all forthcoming Alpha's would have translucent mirrors -- you know, the spiffy kind that enables DSLRs to focus while shooting video. Opportunely, the above pictured image also came with a bevy of specs, which we'll have to assume apply to the pricier A77: a 24 megapixel sensor, 11 point AF, 10 frame per second burst and an ISO of 102,400. Also on the docket is USB 3.0, and a ship date of October. Whether or not the August announcement pans out remains to be seen, but you'll certainly know when we do.

Canon takes a cue from Pentax, starts selling the T3 in assorted colors

    EOS Rebel T3

Well, looky here, Canon just let its hair down. The company was clearly in an experimental mood, and got the harebrained idea that consumers just might snap up red and brown DSLRs the way they do its candy-colored point-and-shoots. The outfit's now selling its beginner-friendly EOS Rebel T3 in red, brown, and metallic gray -- all in addition to your garden-variety black, of course. Sure, that's tame by Pentax's wacky standards, but for Canon it's pretty... outlandish. Since the camera went on sale this spring, its price has dropped from $599 to a promotional $549 for the kit, which includes an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom II lens. As for the body, if you'll recall, it has a 12.2 megapixel sensor that records 720p video (a rarity for an entry-level model), a nine-point autofocus system, ISO 100 to 6,400, and a 63-zone dual-metering system. Novices who just want to be different can, as always, hit up the source link for more info.Source URL: http://doradadama.blogspot.com/search/label/Cameras%2FHandycam

Leica M9-P looks like it costs a fortune, doesn't disappoint

    Leica M9-P

Leica's new M9-P digital rangefinder taps the till at $7,995 -- the same price the original M9 commanded when it was released in 2009 -- but you don't stay in the business of making pricey cameras for nearly a century without doing something right. The new version adds a virtually unbreakable sapphire crystal covering on the LCD, produced using diamond cutting tools, and an anti-reflective coating. The body includes a vulcanite leatherette body finish, for a more secure grip, but curiously lacks the familiar red Leica logo and M9 lettering on the front, in line with the camera's elegant "minimalist styling." Beyond that, the P includes the same full-frame 18 megapixel sensor featured on the M9, an "almost silent" shutter, and is compatible with Leica's full range of astronomically expensive M lenses. The M9-P will be available in black or chrome for $7,995 beginning next month, or $15,990 for two -- since we know you're planning to buy both.

1923 Leica 0-series becomes world's most expensive camera, fetches $1.89 million at auction

    Leica 0-series

Just when we thought ancient wooden boxes were all the rage among camera collectors, a compact beauty has shattered our theories -- this 1923 Leica 0-series just sold at auction for €1,320,000, or about 1.89 million in US money. Curiously enough, the exact same auction house reportedly sold the exact same camera four years ago: No. 107, the first Leica to be exported, allegedly for a patent application inspection in New York. In 2007, it fetched a relatively paltry €336,000, which was apparently still a world record for Leica cameras at the time. Quite the return on that investment, no? Samsung NX11 Compact Digital Camera Launched; Also supports new iFUnction Lens

    Samsung NX11

Samsung has announced the release of its latest addition to its revolutionary and highly successful NX family of cameras, the Samsung NX11 Compact Digital Camera, in India that is an upgraded model based on the Samsung NX10 digital camera but which was the world’s first mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera with ultra-high resolution APS-C size CMOS sensor, but is also compatible with Samsung’s popular iFunction lens system.
The new Samsung NX11 features an APS-C size CMOS sensor and incorporates a number of advanced industry-leading imaging technologies and it’s smart slim design and powerful functions mark a new era in digital photography.

Samsung NX11 is a compact interchangeable-lens digital single-lens camera with added support of Samsung iFunction lens introduced for the NX100, and it features an APS-C size CMOS sensor and an ultra lightweight body, that produces high-quality images comparable to Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) cameras.

Like the NX10 model, the Samsung NX11 camera also uses a high precision electronic viewfinder, instead of the traditional reflective mirror and prism used in Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras, which significantly reduces the camera’s body size making it compact.

The Samsung NX11 will come complete with an 18-55mm i-Function lens, as well as two new i-Function lenses, a 20mm pancake and a 20-50mm zoom silver colour lens.

The Samsung NX11 camera measures 123 x 87 x 39.8 mm and weighs only 353 gms, which is exactly same as Samsung NX10 model, and is ergonomically designed with a clipper-built design.

The Samsung’s i-Function lens puts the perfect picture at the fingertips of all photographers by providing an exceptionally easy way of controlling the camera. A typical camera user wraps their hand around the lens when holding the camera, the new i-Function system allows photographers to naturally use their left hand to change settings through a button built into the i-Function lens, without the need to take the camera off the target.

Users are also empowered with option to toggle between shutter speed, aperture, EV, WB, and ISO quickly and easily by simply using the i-Function button and ring on the lens, meaning easier and quicker configuration while shooting.

Similar to Samsung NX10, the NX11 digital camera also uses the best in class APS-C sensor for better image quality. The APS-C sensor is larger than Micro 4/3 and the larger sensor delivers high quality images, easily.

The Samsung NX11 is equipped with Samsung’s exclusive Fast and Decisive Contrast AF, providing a 15-zone (basic) and 35-zone (feature) automatic focus, and supporting 247-zone multi-zones metering.

Samsung NX11 digital single-lens camera is not affected by the delay produced by the reflector; its high-speed continuous shooting function can shoot up to three frames per second for a maximum of 10 superior photos at 14.6 megapixels.

The Samsung NX11 digital single-lens camera utilises the 14.6 M APS-C CMOS sensor and ultra-fast image processor DRIMe II Pro to capture detailed and vivid images. Meanwhile, its larger light-sensitive area can easily soften the silhouette highlighting the subject during shooting.

The Samsung NX11 camera’s APS-C sensor and ISO sensitivity range from 100 to 3200, makes its performance in colour reproduction and noise control equal to that of Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras.

The Samsung NX11 beholds a 3.0-inch LCD screen that features high-quality AMOLED technology that only uses one-eighth of the power consumption compared to traditional TFT screens. When shooting in bright sunshine or at acute angles the AMOLED display screen remains clear and bright with no reflection or discoloration supporting 10,000:1 contrast ratio.

In addition, the Samsung NX11′s electronic viewfinder has a 100% vision field and 86% magnification and can sense when users look through the viewfinder, automatically shutting down the AMOLED screen to conserve power.

    The Samsung NX10 digital single-lens camera features the popular 720p HD video recording function which can record 1280 x 720, 640 x 480, 320 x 340 MP4 (H.264 ) format AAC mono video. Users can produce professional-looking, high definition movies with the 1280 x 720, 16:9 ratio function.

Samsung is also introducing the K-Mount for the NX system, which will also be compatible with Samsung DSLR GX series. These high-quality lenses of various focal lengths from the K-mount series will improve the shooting ability of the new NX11.

Samsung brings mirrorless NX100 14MP camera into the market

    Samsung NX100
Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, a global leader in digital media and digital convergence technologies, today announced the launch of the unique Samsung NX100 – an innovative mirrorless camera equipped with the world’s first i-Function lens, putting the perfect picture at the fingertips of all photographers through a completely new way of controlling your camera.

The NX100 is set to dominate the new mirrorless camera category. The innovative new product has benefited from Samsung’s expertise across multiple technology areas, meaning that the camera’s key components are 100% produced internally. This unique process has been combined with Samsung’s detailed and extensive program of consumer research, which provided valuable insights that the company’s designers and engineers have incorporated into the NX100. Finally the unparalleled product is complemented by an extensive line up of lenses and accessories which give photographers the full package to explore their creativity.

The launch of the NX100 follows the success of the NX10, Samsung’s first mirrorless camera and the first in the world to feature an APS-C size sensor, which has already changed the way millions of photographers across the globe take pictures, and raised the bar for the industry as a whole. The NX100 shares the industry leading technology of NX10, such as an APS-C size sensor for quality images and a 3 inch AMOLED screen for easy and clear viewing. However, with the NX100 Samsung takes the mirrorless camera to the next level, by incorporating the innovations of the NX10 and improving other areas of the camera’s performance and design. The body of the camera is slim, sleek and stylish, and the NX100 also features the intuitive i-Function lens which allows users to control their camera through the lens for the first time. The NX100 also boasts one of the fastest AF on the market today, which ensures that users never miss a moment, and an ISO that is raised to a maximum of 6400 for action shots.

The design of the NX100 is inspired by the simple shape of dew forming on a leaf, which can be seen on the camera’s shutter button and curved body, which comes in four different colors; black, white, brown, and silver. The lightweight, compact and modern design makes the camera extremely portable, allowing users with a creative flair to carry the NX100 with them anywhere and for any occasion. The NX100 is more than just a camera; it is both a creative tool and an artistic object that makes a bold style statement everywhere it goes.

Mr. Ram Modak, General Manager of the Digital Imaging Division of Samsung Gulf Electronics, commented: “With the new NX100, Samsung has broken new grounds and surpassed industry expectations. Our unique and pioneering i-Function Lens is one example of Samsung’s unparalleled innovation which will appeal to every photographer. ”

While conventional lenses were passive in controlling camera settings, the unique i-Function Lens is a proactive lens that communicates with the camera body. It delivers total image control with fast manual settings to ensure quick and easy image capturing, and also provides customized settings optimized for the lens being used. The lens incorporates a conveniently located i-Function button which allows users to scroll through manual settings, and a focus ring which is used to easily change parameters for each setting. This unprecedented control system is clever, intuitive and fast, meaning the perfect picture is now at everyone’s fingertips.

Because a typical camera user wraps their hand around the lens when holding the camera, the new system means that photographers can naturally use their left hand to change settings through the intuitive i-Function lens without the need to take the cameras off the target. Users can toggle between shutter speed, aperture, EV, WB, and ISO quickly and easily by simply using the i-Function button and ring on the lens, meaning easier and quicker configuration while shooting.

The NX100 also has a lens priority mode which makes switching between lenses to guarantee the perfect shot easier than ever. Firstly, each lens is clearly marked with icons that illustrate their main usages, so beginners can quickly understand which lens they need to select for any given scene. The lens priority mode provides scene options optimized for the lens being used – for example when a landscape lens is attached the camera will immediately display the landscape mode. Also, when users change to a specialized lens, the camera would recognize the lens type and automatically configure the settings that would best match with the attached lens. This latter feature would work with specialized Samsung lenses in the future.

    Samsung NX100

The NX100’s innovations aren’t confined to the lens – the camera also provides a very creative feature called ‘Smart Filter’. In playback mode, users can apply seven different effects to the picture, such as the vignette, soft focus, fish-eye or miniature effects. The ‘Smart Filter’ provides not just high quality images, but also features that are fun to use.

The fun doesn’t stop with the still image options – the NX100 supports HD movie recording at 720P, so that memories can stay alive in its finest details. The NX100 also contains a ‘Sound Picture’ mode that can record audio when a photo is taken that enriches the experience. To ensure each image is perfect quality, even when lenses are being regularly changed, the NX100 also features a supersonic dust reduction feature to remove any foreign particles from the lens before shooting.

The NX100 will be equipped with a range of innovative lenses and accessories to further enhance the user’s experience. At launch the lens line-up includes a compact zoom 20-50mm lens to provide both high image quality and portability. A small and light 20mm wide angle Pancake lens will be introduced shortly after. Two additional specialized lenses will be available in the first half of 2011 – a 60mm Macro lens and 18-200mm Super Zoom lens. To expand the lens line-up even further, three more lenses will be introduced by the second half of 2011, including 16mm, 85mm, and 16-80mm lenses. The NX system will be further enhanced with more accessories, including an Electronic Viewfinder, Flash and GPS tracker to capture your exact geographical location.Source URL: http://doradadama.blogspot.com/search/label/Cameras%2FHandycam

Olympus' LS-20M boasts dual mics and 1080p recording, split personality

    Olympus' LS-20M

Cisco may have washed its hands of pocket camcorders, but Olympus is ready to dive into the market with gusto. The company, best known for its cameras and voice recorders, just brought those two worlds together by announcing the LS-20M, a handheld whose relatively high-end audio specs should help it go toe-to-toe with Zoom. In addition to 1080p video, the LS-20M records 24 bit / 96 mHz Linear PCM audio using a pair of condenser mics. Alas, at $300 it has a small 2-inch screen and no optical zoom, but at least Olympus borrowed four of the visual effects that make its PEN cameras so fun to use. Look for it in June, and in the meantime, hit the PR for more details.

Sony Bloggie 3D now available for aspiring James Camerons everywhere

    Sony Bloggie 3D

Sure, we'll never see dreams of a 3D Cisco Flip realized, but Sony's offering the next best thing: the Bloggie 3D. Or, if you're not in the mood to squint and don't mind the eyewear, you can output the video to a 3D-enabled HDTV.

Nikon D5100 gets the iFixit teardown treatment, camera status confirmed

    Nikon D5100

We've seen plenty of tablets go under the spudger at the iFixit teardown labs, but seldom has a DSLR been gently gutted and photographed for all to see. Today's victim is the $900 Nikon D5100, which just hit stores last week. After popping out the battery (the D5100's only user-serviceable component), the engineers removed the motherboard, 16.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, and everything else they could get their hands on, even going so far as to desolder some wires. The verdict? The camera is very difficult to disassemble -- perhaps because "approximately 4 billion screws hold the device together." Teardowns are arguably more fun than unboxings (trust us, we know), so hit the link below for more camera-in-the-buff shots.Source URL: http://doradadama.blogspot.com/search/label/Cameras%2FHandycam

Leica i9 concept pairs $1,000 camera with $200 iPhone

    Leica i9 concept

When you think of manufacturers that create products to go hand-in-hand with the Apple iPhone, Leica probably wouldn't come to mind. The seemingly brilliant minds at Black Design Associates hope to change that, however. The Leica i9 concept pairs an iPhone 4 with a fixed-lens rangefinder camera, and the result is nothing short of extraordinary. Slipping your iPhone 4 -- black or white -- into the back of the i9 brings the camera to life, activating the compact optical zoom, dedicated aperture and shutter dials, flash and light meter. Images are instantly viewable on the iPhone, where it's safe to assume they're stored as well. The camera back doubles as a case, but you're probably going to want to use it with a headset, unless you like talking to a camera. There's no sign that the i9 will even reach the prototype phase, but nobody is going to stop the high-end camera's designer from dreaming -- especially when said dreams make us weak at the knees.Source URL: http://doradadama.blogspot.com/search/label/Cameras%2FHandycam
